Project Presentation at Cyprus Police training event 

Our PrisonSafe project was recently presented to 60 select members of the Cyprus Police, as part of their awareness raising activities of LGBTIQ+ issues. The event was co-organised by the LGBTQI+ organisation ACCEPT Cyprus in collaboration with the Cyprus Police and was attended by the Minister of Justice Ms Anna Koukkides-Procopiou and the Chief of Police Mr Stylianos Papatheodorou, among others. Our project coordinator Dr Charis Xinari, Associate Professor at European University Cyprus, was one of the invited speakers and in her talk entitled “Why LGBTIQ+ rights concern all of us”, addressed the issue of LGBTIQ+ rights in the context of human rights, starting with our PrisonSafe project, its relevance and importance in this context. We thank the Cyprus Police and Accept Cyprus for the invitation and look forward to more such opportunities to discuss project aims and outputs.
